Artist Statement:

The human hand has often been used to represent the “hand” (or creative power) of God. According to Aristotle, the hand is the "tool of tools", they are symbolic of strength, power, and protection. They can just as easily be used for good or evil, commit acts of healing, kindness generosity, peace, violence, force, faith, and usefulness.

As an artist, I wanted to see if I could "talk to my hands" as they are physical tools channeling my subconscious. Would photographing them as one might try to depict a silent portrait sitter allow me a physical insight into what they might independently communicate, to me and others?
